Potholed-free Goa roads soon?

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s stern warning to PWD engineers and contractors about fixing potholed roads before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival is welcome, but why limit it to this festival? Road accidents occur year-round due to the poor state of Goa’s roads. The media frequently report on deaths and publish photographs of severely damaged roads. Yet, has anyone taken meaningful action?

Newly repaired and hot-mixed roads are collapsing after just a few showers. The PWD’s experiment with a new machine and high-grade concrete mix for patching potholes has failed, leading to financial losses for the Goa government.
