All over the coastal belt of Goa the sight of multiple coiled internet cables, telephone landline cables, trunk cables, fibre optic strands bunched across electricity poles is quite common. The private internet service providers especially take advantage of these poles to mount their equipment without paying a single penny to the authorities. To top it all, we also see advertisement flex signs made of inflammable material stuck on the concrete surface. This is not only an unethical practice but also a fire hazard. Imagine the amount of damage it would cause if a current conductor were to be short circuited by these extraneous cables. The Electricity Department must get all such material removed from its property to avoid mishaps.
