CCTV footage can be broadcast locally on TV in the State

CCTVs all over the state are found to be malfunctioning. They have been installed at great cost and serve no purpose. CCTVs today are digital unlike the earlier analog versions. There are a few local TV channels that broadcast their content locally in the state. In the same manner CCTV footage can be broadcast locally on TV on a separate local TV channel. 

This will ensure that the CCTVs are constantly kept working. Those watching the channel can lodge a complaint if any are found to be in disorder. Also, local cable TV operators can broadcast CCTV footage of their local area. If anyone is found to be dumping garbage in the vicinity they can be apprehended in short time by the locals. 

A toll-free number can also be provided to report any crimes or mishaps witnessed on the channel. Rather than having paid observers, the citizens themselves can observe at least their own areas. It's time now for showtime! "You are on candid camera!"

Citizens need to think of ways to stop defections

Despite the fact that candidates of political parties have taken a pledge at religious places and have also signed an affidavit that they will not defect from the party if they win the elections, nothing can be taken for granted. The pledge and the affidavit could be just an eye-wash in order to garner votes. There is probably nothing that can stop elected MLAs from changing their party affiliation post the results. The lure and enticement for defection could be too strong…
