That was certainly a shocking piece of news on the front page of your newspaper. How easy is childbirth? Those who have gone through labour know what it entails, and here we have a Class 9 student (though 17 years old) giving birth to a child in a school toilet, all on her own. The girl had been carrying the pregnancy for nine months, going about her daily life, including attending school”and yet no eyebrows were raised. This seems strange. The girl’s family, the school, and the hostel authorities all need to be held accountable and questioned to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future. The girl herself, of course, is in dire need of counselling.
