The haphazard dumping of mixed waste by citizens in Vasco in the dustbins placed under power transformers and at junction boxes has made it difficult for linesman to fix electricity faults in the area. As people dump their waste near electrical utilities, the whole area becomes messy and dangerous to approach for service personnel. Lack of coordination between the Mormugao Municipal Council and the Electricity department has resulted in this sorry state of affairs. The latter has even tried to ring fence its transformers but to no avail as the Council is least bothered at removing the erroneously placed bins. Government agencies should better coordinate their efforts to alleviate at least the avoidable sufferings of the common man. The same situation is prevalent in the commercial capital Margao and the less said about the ' supposed' smart city Panjim, the better.
