In Ponda we come across instances wherein garbage is being dumped along roadside at different locations. It is rather unfortunate that the same is not cleared regularly and the ultimate sufferers are the pedestrians.
On many occasions, the stench emanating from garbage is unbearable. As a result unhygienic conditions become the order of the day. During recent years, garbage is being regularly dumped along the road in the vicinity of KTC bus-stand off Ponda-Farmagudi route. The same remains neglected for long thereby causing inconvenience to public at large.
Thye prevailing ugly picture leaves a negative image of the Ponda town in the eyes of the tourists. Similar situation has been noticed behind KTC bus-stand along the road leading towards the Farmagudi circle. Not only garbage but even construction debris and other unwanted materials are being dumped here on regular basis. On Saturdays, Sundays and other public holidays people carry garbage on two-wheelers/cars and visit this place purposely only to dump garbage.
The concerned authorities should take a note of this important matter and arrange surprise checks at these points so that defaulters are caught red-handed and fined accordingly.
