Concerns over migrant workers

The number of migrant workers in Margao is rising, with many seen sitting and sleeping on traffic islands, benches, and near the municipality office. Food is served in unhygienic conditions on Station Road, and begging gangs disturb pedestrians and shopkeepers. Some of them reportedly misuse the money collected from begging and behave disrespectfully towards Goans. Groups arrive in vehicles to distribute free food, encouraging their continued presence. Many live in the open, cooking and bathing in public spaces. Political leaders allegedly help them get voter ID cards and build illegal homes. Despite complaints, authorities have taken no action. Issues like the increasing migrant population, roadside garbage, and illegal stalls are affecting the daily life of Madgaonkars and impacting the city’s cleanliness and mobility

It's safer to use dart guns to sterilise stray dogs

Goa’s Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences (AH&VS) together with Mission Rabies have started a special sterilisation drive from April 1 to tackle the problem of stray dogs roaming on the beaches. Around 2,000 dogs are expected to be neutered as the cases of dog bites have increased and marred the image of the tourism industry.
