It has been long since the Congress has been grappling with the prospect of wresting power from the BJP and has repeatedly faltered. The Congress suffers from a superiority complex both internally and externally. There exists a significant distrust among its own members, and the older generation is hesitant to permit the younger members to ascend within the party, thereby establishing a dynastic rule that has, fortunately for them, now infiltrated the governance of the BJP. Shifting focus to the present political scenario, on the brink of the Zilla Panchayat elections, the Congress has already shown indications of clinging to its superiority complex while attempting to build a coalition. It is hardly surprising that the ambitious plans for a united front finally disintegrated. The reasons for this could be manifold, including the possibility that the RGP was lured by the BJP. The collapse of the grand display of unity in Cuncolim, may be attributed to collective indecisiveness, fragility, and personal egos within its ranks. It is time for the Congress to introspect, understand the ground reality and accept that change is the only constant lest it disappear into oblivion.
