In reality the Congress party is the BJP's B team with Rahul Gandhi playing tabla to Modi's music most of the time. There have been a huge number of issues since 2014 when Modi came to power for the Congress and Opposition parties to take advantage of and nucleate populist movements to bring down the BJP government. But the Congress party led by Rahul Gandhi has failed to capitalise on these opportunities. There seems to be a certain amount of diffidence in any action initiated by the Gandhi family. Due to this has the Congress missed chances to bring down the BJP government led by Modi due to demonetisation, the CAA issue, GST, the farmers agitation, the pandemic management etc. These issues had caused untold misery to the people and resulted in loss of lives. Those that remain with the party now are either lightweights on the political scene or those that feel that they have protection from Modi's enforcement agencies if they are associated with the Congress party. Why continue the pain? Might as well wind down.
