The medical field tends to be a noble and respected profession. Doctors strive hard to save precious human lives from deaths in times of severe mishaps that occur along the road from time to time. Many of them are prevented from even having their food on time when emergency situations crop up. In this context, it would be appropriate to mention a serious case sometime back wherein doctors at the Goa Medical College Hospital in Panaji conducted a major operation and re-fixed a hand of a patient who happened to be a victim of a brutal assault. This particular operation involved almost six hours. Hats off to the doctors who performed this major operation. The state government needs to take note of the splendid performance of doctors working at the government hospitals and hike their salaries and other benefits. Such a step would go a long way in raising their efficiency while serving citizens. In the time of Covid-19, they have been working tirelessly. Perhaps some of the doctors (and even nurses) remained away from their families due to their preoccupation with the patients who tested positive. It is rather heartening to see that some of the social organisations at the respective jurisdictions in the state took the initiative to felicitate the Covid-19 warriors. Society should be ever indebted to the doctors and nurses for their sincerity and dedication to their profession. Last, and not least, we should also appreciate the staff members attached to the ambulance service in the state who have been working round the clock in serving humanity.
