The less said about the state of roads in Benaulim, the better. Besides roads, the drains in the village are a danger to life and limb. No pre-monsoon desilting has been carried out, as a result of which the drains quickly fill up with water and overflow onto the roads. In many places, there is vegetation growing in and around the drains, due to which the openings become invisible. Drain covers are also missing. These lead to frequent accidents, especially at night, involving two-wheelers. All these bombastic claims about ‘Viksit Goa’ fall flat on their face when it is obvious that the sarkar cannot even maintain basic infrastructure in villages.
