Recent controversial remarks allegedly attributed to the Chief Justice of India have triggered widespread political debate and strong reactions on social media, especially among the youth. The growing frustration among young Indians reflects deeper concerns over rising living costs, unemployment and the handling of important national issues, including centrally administered university examinations. The ongoing Iran conflict has further added to public distress by increasing the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, placing additional pressure on ordinary citizens. Across the country, many young people are questioning whether promises related to employment generation and economic stability have truly been fulfilled. In this backdrop, the emergence of the satirical “Cockroach Janta Party,” reportedly founded by Abhijeet Dipke, highlights the anger and disappointment felt by sections of the youth. The party is said to have been formed in response to remarks comparing unemployed youth and activists to “cockroaches” and “parasites,” comments many viewed as insensitive and disrespectful. Public representatives and institutions must exercise restraint and responsibility in their words, especially when addressing the concerns of India’s youth.
