Fix non-working street lights in Chandor

Even after replacing street lights with LEDs the complaints remain the same. Most of the lights are non-functional and it is surprising to see that sometime the lights suddenly switch on and off.

In some places in Chandor and Cavorim, the electricity poles are corroded and bent thus putting the pedestrians at risk. Numerous complaints to the department have fallen on deaf ears. The only response that is given is that the fixtures have been sent for repairs to Margao.

There are other issues related to the street lights too. Tree branches are seen covering the street lights in Cavorim thereby hampering the movement of traffic.

The high tension line which runs in front of Chandor church needs to be diverted elsewhere or made underground for the safety of people because the metal pole has bent and may collapse in this monsoon season.

Also, there are numerous power cuts in both the villages. It would be in the fitness of things if new transformers are set up where required to divide the load.

My humble request to the Power Minister and electricity department to take necessary steps to solve all these issues on a priority.
