The stray dog menace has come back to haunt Goans. Aggressive dogs in each locality must be identified and separate dog shelters are the need of the hour. Stray dogs are a persistent threat to the safety of human beings. It’s the civic agencies’ failure to curb the stray dog menace. Butchers and meat stall owners would also be well advised not to lure the canines by offering raw meat and poultry. The presence of garbage also attracts dogs. There must be a full-proof programme to trace the dogs for sterilization and vaccination. There are more dogs at Bhatlem quarters and at certain places. These dogs chase riders and are a threat to pedestrians. It is time the dog menace is dealt with without politicising the issue. Like potholed roads that speak of poor governance, the stray dog menace doesn’t speak well of the administration.
