Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has reportedly said that for the first time ‘Sunburn’ has created a ‘Goa Village’ at the mega musical event which will give a platform for Goan artists to perform to international and domestic tourists. 'Sunburn' has the distinction of bringing the world's top 10 DJs to India including 'Marshmello' and Nicky Romero. In line with the futuristic theme, the three-day music bonanza will take attendees to the future of EDM with high-quality, best-in-class acoustics, laser, and state-of-the-art pyrotechnics. Hence having a ‘Goa Village’ for Goan artists to perform at such a mega event seems out of place. Thousands will throng for the main 'Sunburn EDM' but it remains to be seen how many will be present at the ‘Goa Village’ event. If the Tourism department is really interested in encouraging Goan musicians then an independent mega Goan musical festival needs to be held on the same lines as the ‘Beat Shows’ and the ‘Beat Contests’ that were being held on the beach sand during yesteryears.
