The Old Goa controversial structure falls in the jurisdiction of Old Goa Village Panchayat. The panchayat is the Parliament of the village and a representative of the people under it. It can formulate their own decision on development and social justice as it enjoys Constitutional statute. The panchayat is a village authority for issuing licences for construction, etc, under the Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994. Therefore, the panchayat would have been first to reach the site and to bring solution to the controversial issue. Days have passed, people are demanding/ fasting on the death edge and now the panchayat had issued stop work notice when they have a power to demolish the illegal structure on people-power demand and then go for further processing papers. That has not happened because of passing the buck on each other.
Why the government is adamant when people are peacefully demanding and fasting unto death for a genuine cause! It is a crying shame, when the world knows what is happening in liberated Goa.
Take for example “ even if a multi-storeyed structure is demolished, money can build another elsewhere “ if a person fasting unto death and suddenly dies no money, no doctor, no government on earth can bring back to life “ therefore the government should wakeup and think precisely before it’s too late.
