As expected the fast unto death by Adv Amit Palekar for the demolition of that controversial bungalow at Old Goa’s world heritage site was a well orchestrated drama. But that five-day stage managed show will fool no one.
It was obviously a gimmick to desperately try and extract some political mileage by him after joining the Aam Aadmi Party and hoping to contest from St Cruz. How can one who has very close links with the land mafia claim that he wants to save our State from destruction.
All the illegalities of this bungalow at Old Goa were committed during the BJP rule which should be held responsible for allowing these illegal and fraudulent acts. The perpetrators of these criminal acts must be brought to book and must face exemplary punishment.
We must be alert as the government will try and hoodwink the people on this issue till the elections are over after which the family of the very influential BJP spokesperson leader family of Shaina NC who owns that bungalow will have the last laugh.
We should not allow the BJP to take us for a ride on this critical issue. Ours has to be a sustained battle to ensure that this fraudulent bungalow is demolished and the land restored to its original position.
