It is about time that we have a retirement age for politicians so that geriatric senile faces are rested to enable them to spend their retirement babysitting their grandchildren. This will make the much needed room to infuse young experienced and talented blood into the political mainstream which currently is in dire straits. Politics has to be a call for service to what was once a noble mission. Sadly, today it is a self seeking investment and no longer a vocation.
Politicians should gracefully hang their boots instead of clinging on until they are irrelevant. With all their experience and good fortune, they should live up to the famous saying ‘Legacy is not what I did for myself. It’s what I am doing for the next generation’.
