With schools and colleges switching to online classes due to Covid-19 pandemic, it was shocking to note that three children of underprivileged families from a remote village in Sattari taluka have not been able to attend a single online SSC class at a high school.
The reason being simply because their families cannot afford mobile phones and internet facilities. Unfortunately the future of three students is at stake for want of a smartphone.
There could be several such instances elsewhere in the State of students not being able to continue with their studies for want of a mobile phone which could lead to dropouts at the school and college level.
The local leaders and elected representatives need to come forward and help these students from poor families to continue their studies by providing them with smartphones free of cost and a good internet connection.
There could be several young people belonging to well-to-do families and other citizens who could be owning more than one smartphone as they tend to buy the latest brand of the mobile with new features available in the market.
These people need to donate their old mobile phones to children from poor families or to the schools to distribute them to the students. Children are the future of our country and no child should miss their schooling for want of a mobile phone.
