Justice Misra will have bitter memories of Goa

Highly condemnable is the so outrageous manner in which Justice P K Misra was ill-treated after relinquishing office as Goa Lokayukta on September 17. The very next day his official car was withdrawn so was his security cover and staff at his official bungalow. The outstanding 73-year old former Chief Justice of the Patna High Court should have been treated courteously especially after the yeoman service he rendered to the State as Lokayukta and earlier as Chairman of Goa Human Rights Commission.

The manner in which Justice Misra was humiliated is very revengeful but comes as no surprise being an act of those who cannot deal with the truth.

In 1999 we saw how then Chief Secretary S R Sharma was so suddenly moved out of Goa. His office at the Secretariat was locked while he was left stranded with his vehicle and even the staff at his official bungalow withdrawn.

Very sad memories also still linger of yet another very upright DGP R S Sahaye who was suddenly and very rudely shunted out of Goa in 2000.

Justice P K Misra will leave Goa with bitter memories on how he was awfully ill treated after his retirement by a State which is otherwise known worldwide for its hospitality.

Tiny acts of kindness can yield big results. Vengeful acts can only come to haunt the wrongdoers. It’s called Karma!  Sylvester Stallone, the famous actor observed ‘There’s a natural law of karma that vindictive people, who go out of their way to hurt others, will end up broke and alone’.

The Opposition parties have a point when they claim that the Sushant Singh Rajput case is being used to divert attention from real issues like the economy, pandemic, unemployed etc. The SSR case does seem to be a smoke-screen. TV channels are only concerned about TRP and milking the case for all its worth. On a lighter note, it would be advisable not to delete any WhatsApp messages. The NCB may think you are trying to hide something and summon you to the National Cinema…
