The hijab ban is hostile discrimination against Muslim girls based purely on their religion and is a draconian decision opposed to the intent and spirit of Article 15 of the Constitution. When wearing of other religious symbols like turbans, bangles, tikas, bangles, kadas and crucifix is being allowed then why is it that only the hijab is being disallowed. Many college going girls wear a dupatta or chunni to cover their heads whether she is a Hindu, Muslim or a Christian. The bigoted and malevolent sarkar is forcing girls to choose between hijab and education, as it is Muslim girls are at the bottom of the education ladder; if they are shut out in this fashion it will spell doom for their future. The role of education is to promote plurality, diversity and heterogeneity. It is sad that the police have been called out to enforce hijab bans on students and teachers alike, we are now officially a police(d) state. How this controversy pans out is not difficult to guess but it will lead to ghettoisation of the minority community. God save India from these sectarian monsters.
