Introduce formalin checks at borders


Monsoons around the corner which will bring relief from the unbearable high temperatures but will also pose challenges of preparation for long watery spells. 

The ensuing fishing ban puts a severe dent on nourishing food intake, which makes supplements hard to come by. People rely on interstate fish which is laced with dangerous levels of preservatives like formaldehyde which keep fish from decaying but adversely affecting human lives. 

One should refrain from consuming such chemically treated food which could alarmingly run down the health of a human being with chronic diseases like cancer, cirrhosis of liver, kidney failure and other life threatening diseases for which there are no cures. 

These chemicals are precisely and expressly meant to preserve dead corpses from decaying for years and extended periods of time. We should all wake up to the gravity of the ill effects of consumption of such foods preventing their entry into our homes.

There is a need to monitor the entry of such contaminated fish at all check points and oversee the formalin testing facilities that are doing their jobs well with stringent checks and zero tolerance to fish laced and treated with hazardous chemicals such as formalin from entering our shores for sale and consumption.

Footpath near Kala Academy blocked

People are known to undertake their illegal work taking advantage of weekends and holidays knowing well that there will be no action from authorities. In one such incident on Sunday, a shed was being put up on the footpath near Kala Academy, fabrication work which was going on in full speed.It is not known whether the concerned persons had any approval from the Corporation of the City of Panaji. The footpath near the Kala Academy is frequently used by all…
