Is Indian govt selling its soul for cheap oil?

The lines below, are borrowed from the post World War II, poetic prose of Martin Niemoeller, and refers to Hitler’s genocide of Jews.

“They first came for the Communists and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a communist.

Then they came for the Jews and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for me and by that time no one was left to speak up.”

In the light of the evidence of the barbaric atrocities, inflicted by Russia on Ukrainian civilians, it is downright shameful that India chooses not to call a spade a spade. Are we, as one of the oldest civilisations, bringing a disgrace upon ourselves, by ignoring the heinous war perpetrated by the Russians on a sovereign country?

In the run up to the invasion Russians kept repeating that they had no intention of invading Ukraine and now when gory evidence of the war crimes is surfacing, Russia is claiming these are staged pictures. While this diet of propaganda is being fed to the Russian masses in an environment where media outlets have been choked, is our Government also feeding off the same, and ignoring reality. Are we selling our souls for cheap oil?
