Kindness and generosity in the time of the pandemic

Pandemic brought out the best qualities in persons to the fore. We read so many stories of compassion. Recently, an 11-year-old girl, Tulsi Kumari, was selling mangoes on a street in Jharkhand for Rs 10,000 per piece -- a very high price indeed. She badly wanted to buy a smartphone for online studies and put food on her family table. Ameya Hete, a Mumbai-based businessman, came to know about Tulsi’s struggles and decided to further her determination to study by buying 12 mangoes at Rs 10,000 each. Although astonished by the exorbitant cost, Hete did not display his negative emotions and let the girl know about how uncomfortable he was feeling with the high price. The businessman’s kindness changed the girl’s as well her family’s lives changed in an instant. There are many such compassionate good Samaritans lending helping hands to fellow citizens during this deadly pandemic. It is time, we salute such large-hearted men.
