The land that we live on is one part of our identity. However, in Goa, we are seeing people who have no sense of belonging and are selling their lands for the greed of money. And every time, fingers are pointed out at MLAs and ministers for selling the lands to outsiders. The panchayat members play a very important role here, but these grassroots bodies too are mired in corruption and have become agents when it comes to selling land. These are responsible for allowing outsiders to build houses and run businesses by taking money. At this stage, it is very important for us to realise the connection with our land and save it for the future generation. Or else, our ancestors will never forgive us.
