With temperatures around 37 degree Celsius, life is extremely difficult for slum dwellers, the homeless, and even animals and birds. The scorching sun makes survival tough. Summer temperatures are expected to reach 40 degree Celsius or more. As trees are cut down, concrete buildings replace green spaces, leaving little shade. The approaching monsoons will bring infections, especially to those with open wounds. Life on the streets is harsh, with the poor struggling daily to find shade and a decent meal. These meals often lack essential nutrition, leading to malnutrition. Clean drinking water is scarce, forcing people to drink from contaminated sources.
Some live in discarded sewage pipes or underground chambers. Many suffer from wounds or foot ulcers, often due to diabetes, and are prone to infections from contact with waste. Self-help groups and charities, like the Missionaries of Charity, try to provide shelter and support, but resources are limited. Some foreign groups offer intermittent aid. Despite these efforts, many still suffer. Those with resources and time should help relieve the suffering of these people, who live under an open sky resembling a makeshift hospital. The Almighty finds ways to provide solace for the desperate, hungry, and homeless.
