Mahalaya Shraddha during Pitrupaksha

The period from September 21 to October 6 is going to be the period of ‘Pitrupaksha’, also known as the fortnight for our departed ancestors.

During this period, the departed ancestors come closer to the earth’s plane of existence which is also the main reason for distress among their descendants during these times.

This is because our ancestors still have a lot of worldly desires and very little spiritual energy which stops them from continuing their journey.

They expect us to provide them with some spiritual help so that they can move on and hence we should perform Mahalaya Shraddha during ‘pitrupaksha’.

The main objective of this ritual is to help the ancestors in the after-life and thereby receive their blessings.

It increases the number of positive vibrations of the performer, thereby benefiting him spiritually.

It does not take much effort to perform the ritual, but it means a lot to our ancestors as it provides them with the necessary spiritual energy for at least a year.

We need to do this bit for the salvation of our ancestors.
