It is recently reported that the Department of Education is in the process of deleting a chapter of NCERT Std VII based on objections from the Indian Medical Association that doctors are shown in a wrong light only wanting to make profits.
The question that comes to mind is what was the haste in deleting the same. Why couldn’t the IMA justify how the depiction was wrong?
It is a known fact that even today in the pandemic, doctors and hospitals are minting money unethically. We saw how the courts had to intervene to cap rates for Covid treatment and testing.
Everyone knows the first question patients are asked is whether they have medical insurance and if they do then the tests and treatments go up all at the cost of stressing the patient.
Do all doctors issue bills and pay taxes? The said chapter must not be deleted but modified with inputs from both sides.
Doctors cannot perfect themselves solely by working on cadavers. They better themselves by operating/treating patients, with a lot of mistakes. This is a fact that everybody must think of.
