In the assembly we heard the elected MLAs speak about supporting the local artisans in whatever they do. They have urged the government to evolve schemes so that their work of creativity and art will survive and be appreciated. But it surprises me that the carelessness and don't care attitude is prevalent among the public. Goa promotes itself as a tourism destination state and crores of rupees are spent to beautify the public parks and highways so that the tourists will appreciate the beautification or art works of our local artisans. The fibreglass statues depicting the farmers/fishermen are in a dilapidated condition, that too in the constituency of Porvorim which is supposed to be the next capital city of Goa represented by Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and all the Bardez / Pernem, Sattari taluka MLAs are seated in the assembly turning a blind eye to these broken statues. It would be better if the authorities remove them immediately.
