Recently, a 13-year-old boy was grievously injured after a speeding truck knocked him down at Zuarinagar junction. The boy had just finished his tuitions and was returning home on his cycle at Zorinth.
According to reports the boy attempted to cross the road despite the signal turning red and was hit by a speeding truck.
This is second time a cyclist is involved in an accident at the same spot. The time has come to make helmets compulsory for cyclists too. Presently, there a new type of cycles which are electric and many children have these cycles. It is now time for cyclists to also wear protective gear for their head.
Most accidents cause head injuries resulting in death and loss of precious young lives. The said accident is an eye-opener for cyclists who don’t wear helmets.
The government should come out with a rule that cyclists too need to wear helmets irrespective of the type of cycles they ride.
