I saw a photograph of a child diving into the polluted Yamuna river, with only his feet protruding out of the water to pick coins thrown into the river in an act one may call faith. It may not be acceptable to talk of faith and sentiments which will create out of the context controversy, but why throw coins into a polluted river other than as part of weird superstition. Here the child could be making a living out of his frequent dives to retrieve coins but should our elected government and society allow that delicate life to ward off hunger through such hazardous ways? It is a need of the hour to introspect by the government and the administration when we say ration is given to 80 crore population, than why we see children who are termed as future of the country perform dangerous acts to make ends meet.
