On Goa's 60th Liberation Day Anniversary on December 19 at Margao Municipal Council, Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes delivered a strong message to his staff saying that they should respect the public and do their work on time without any complaints. The message comes at a time when the staff are not cooperating with each other. Some do not even talk to each other. There is a lot of inner politics that goes on. Instead of working for the public, the staff have their own scores to settle. More than serving the people, some of them serve their political masters. Also, the MMC is reeling under staff shortage and there has been not much happening to fill the vacant posts to give better service to citizens. Also, the Margao Municipal Council building needs urgent maintenance and a coat of paint. Even the lights which are put on the building for the festival season are not working properly. Looks like old stock. This is the truth of MMC. We respect the strong message of the Chief Officer and hope from now on things will fall in place. Hope the system changes from worse to better before the CO is transferred.
