It is learned that churches across the state are planning additional Masses and putting up screens in church compounds to celebrate Christmas mass. Chapels will also be celebrating Masses just to ensure that all faithful get an opportunity to join in the feast while staying safe in these times of the pandemic. Special Christmas Masses will also be celebrated in the morning for senior citizens. The Christmas Masses celebrated at the parish church also need to be streamed live on YouTube so that the sick, the physically handicapped and the aged can follow the Mass from the comfort of their homes. However, it is understood that those who have contracted Covid-19 recently or travelled outside Goa over the past two weeks are being asked to stay away from the services. It does not seem proper to ask someone who has recovered from the Covid-19 infection not to attend the Christmas mass. When a different time slot was allotted for voters who were Covid-19 positive during the recently held Zilla Panchayat elections, why not have a special Christmas mass for those who have recovered from the infection? Those who have survived the deadly disease have all the more reason to thank the Almighty God for their recovery. And what better way to thank the Lord for the miracle than attending the Christmas mass live, which for them would also be a thanksgiving Mass.
