Goa was free 60 years ago, but to date freedom fighters continue to be honoured and get all the benefits. The question that comes to mind is the genuineness of these persons who claim to be freedom fighters. On what basis does the government declare them freedom fighters? Real freedom fighters would never seek doles and pensions for themselves or their families. Today's freedom fighters, some of them if not all, are among those who were jailed for nefarious activities. Those who qualified as freedom fighters have never claimed benefits. Their sacrifices were their pride and honour. There seems to be no end in sight to the discovery of new freedom fighters.
