National Pet Day: Time to adopt a pet

Today, April 11, is ‘National Pet Day’. There is a saying by Anatole France which goes like this: “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul is not awakened.” People love pets. They are some of the most excellent companions people can have and make life better. ‘National Pet Day’ celebrates the joy that pets bring into the lives of people and encourages them to help reduce the number of animals in the shelter. Bringing humans and animals together helps make the world a better place. For most people, a pet is the best friend they will ever have. According to research, pet owners have been linked to many health advantages, including improved mental health and low stress. Pets provide a calming effect to their owners, especially if they live alone. The significance is to celebrate the unconditional love that animals give us. However, for the animals who don’t have homes, many people don’t realize the benefits of adopting a pet. So this ‘National Pet Day’, adopt a pet and celebrate the joy pets bring into our lives. One can also celebrate the day by donating food, toys, blankets, and other things to an animal welfare organisation. At the end of the day, you’re probably never going to find someone more loyal than a pet.
