Govt to crack down on tourists cooking at roadsides, beaches - The Goan Everyday - April 5, 2025. That may seem like a good move, seizing cooking material and gas cylinders at the borders itself.
Yes, cooking on roadsides and beaches means generation of garbage which is disposed of there itself, dirtying public spaces. This should not be tolerated. And this is the situation even on the roads and beaches in cities like Mumbai, where the general public just don’t think twice about littering the roads and beaches.
So, while we are at it, it would be worthwhile pulling up the public for their lack of civic sense. They need to understand public spaces are not dumping grounds. They should be penalised heavily. Yes, the authorities must crack the whip, because sometimes people understand only the language of the whip!
