The Goa political scene is already in a complete mess and after AAP, now yet another party, TMC is dipping its fingers in the messy Goan political pie. Well, where are we heading? Everybody wants to take over the reigns of power in Goa but does anybody understand what the people of Goa really want? All political parties have failed to realise that the people of Goa are very angry with the political games being played out in Goa, especially after the 2017 Assembly elections. The elected candidates have betrayed the trust reposed in them by the people, by ditching the party from which they were elected. The present government does not seem to be a representative government. The Congress which was the single largest party in the last elections is today in shambles, wrought by desertions, infighting and aspirations. Other smaller parties are in a similar situation. The ruling party itself does not seem to be in good shape. The AAP and now the TMC are trying to capitalise on this situation.
The Editorial says, TMC will give a new lease of life for sulking political leaders. The situation in Goa seems to be fluid, only the results of the forthcoming elections will tell the true story. But one thing is for sure, the world’s largest democracy has taken a huge beating in the eyes of the world. Whatever is happening in Goa and in the rest of the country, is definitely not good for a democracy. And the sooner all parties understand this, the better will it be.
