If an employee is forced to work 12 hours, he or she will only complete 9 to 10 hours of productivity and his/her morale will be at zero level with fatigue. The unit head or foreman should communicate with his subordinates when needed, solicit their feedback and also praise them when they are efficient at work.
Most organizations make sure that their employees know the expectations and deliverables rather than assuming they do. But there are some who do not micro-manage well and make their employees work most of the time without rest or breaks. Fearing job loss employees do not complain and move on.
Employers and employees must remember -- the shorter the hours, the larger the productivity and income. Employees should speak up when they are stressed and employers should take note and do due diligence.
