Opportunistic politicians should not raise Dabolim Airport issue

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has now hurriedly assured the people of Mormugao taluka that the state would never allow Dabolim Airport to close down after Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho reportedly made a shocking  statement recently hinting of possibly shutting down the same airport once the Mopa Airport officially becomes fully operational in Goa.

Sawant has now also categorically stated that the government will seriously plan division of flights between Dabolim and Mopa airports so that both airports function smoothly and develop connectivity facilities under the Centre's "Gati Shakti" initiative to provide employment opportunities to locals.

Well, I personally feel that Sawant is temporarily bluffing the people of Mormugao taluka/South Goa for his own political survival by giving such verbal false assurances and blindly saying that both airports will co-exist simultaneously even in the near future in Goa. Because, today the whole of India knows that the concept of two airports has practically not worked in several Indian states and one of the two airports has always been made to shut down eventually due to low footfalls. Which means that the Dabolim Airport too will meet a similar fate and the same will be forcibly made to slowly  shut down sooner or later after facing similar type of complications in Goa.

I therefore think that Goans should finally come in their senses, learn to accept the above mentioned ground realities gracefully and not allow some opportunistic  politicians (especially from South Goa) to again raise the same old outdated Dabolim Airport issue for no reason to inwardly rejuvenate their own sagging political careers by staying extra vigilant this time in Goa.
