With the elections of CCP Mayor and Deputy scheduled for March 30, it would be an opportunity for the 30 councillors to rise above politics and select two senior experienced councillors having integrity and selfless sense of duty to work diligently and deliver in the best interests of the people and to steer Panaji out of its current catastrophe. In the current so-called Smart City works there should never have been room for substandard works or waste of taxpayers’ money. Quality is always the result of forward planning and research, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skilful execution. It is a tragedy that disasters caused by negligence and corruption in the Panaji Smart City works are endemic and the hallmark of any government sponsored project. An abrogation of duty yet again in a history of failed and broken promises from removal of casinos within a hundred days of being elected in May 2019 to all the other pre-election sweeteners that has left a bitter taste in the mouths of the suffering public. While the coffers are being hurriedly emptied, all this haste is waste coupled with glaring gross negligence and poor corrupt workmanship.
