The authorities have been constantly advising people to wear masks properly thereby covering the mouth including the nose as well. This has been done with the sole intention of avoiding infection from Coronavirus.
Even some of the banks and shops/establishments advise customers to cover major part of their face. Considering the existing danger, many people do oblige to such an obligation. However, we come across instances wherein politicians lower their masks not only during any public function but even when they attend any temple or religious spots.
Of course, this is not a good sign and there is every possibility of infection being transmitted among those around. Members from public are fined Rs 200 in case they fail to wear the mask and also do not wear the same in a proper manner.
Recently, the amount of fine has been raised at some of the cities from Rs 200 to Rs 500. Rules whenever enacted should be applicable to all. It is necessary that politicians who fail to wear masks properly (thereby covering the mouth including nose) should also be fined without any discrimination. It is time for the politicians to discourage the practice of wearing mask merely for name sake whenever they attend any function, public or otherwise.
This would not only help them to remain safe from the deadly virus but will benefit public at large who attend such functions from time to time. The Goa police, the municipalities and the village panchayats at the respective jurisdictions should take this matter quite seriously and take to task politicians as well who fail to wear mask in a proper manner.
In order to assure safety to one and all, discipline in this important matter should be maintained at all costs.
