Government employees are provided residential quarters (GPRA) by the government to ensure comfortable living during their tenure. Housing Rent Allowance (HRA) is deducted for these quarters, along with maintenance and licence fees.
Efforts are underway to enhance the living standards of government employees, with the government responsible for maintaining the quarters for successor allocation. Many quarters require repairs and maintenance, categorised according to grade pay.
However, inadequate staffing for regular cleaning has led to poor maintenance and staff vacating flats. While securing accommodation at Lawspet was once prestigious, most staff are now willing to occupy if amenities and conditions improve in the existing complex.
