Prime Minister Narendra Modi should walk the talk

Most opposition parties have reportedly accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of playing politics during his recent meeting with chief ministers on the Covid situation by raising the issue of fuel prices and passing the buck on to states to reduce prices of petrol and diesel.

Well, Modi is habitually known for blaming not just the chief ministers of opposition-ruled states but also our first Prime Minister and main architect of modern India, Pandit Nehru for all the ills/problems that are being faced in this country today. This is a ply used by Modi frequently to distract the people from all his major failures and present himself as the biggest political victim.

I think that Modi should scrap all central taxes on fuel on the lines of farm laws to give permanent relief to people of this country and then try to project himself as a people’s PM instead of misguiding everyone by selectively targeting a few chief ministers of some opposition-ruled states to mischievously play his own dirty political games. He should stop publicising himself as the undisputed ‘heavyweight champion’ and walk the talk.

Why is Velingkar not behind bars?

Former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Subhash Velingkar desperately tried to break the peaceful communal fabric of Goa. Velingkar is on one side, BJP leaders are habitually known for writers, scholars, poets, social activists etc behind bars on flimsy grounds and even for merely criticising PM Narendra Modi’s policies through their casual tweets. Now, why Velingkar has still not been put behind bars by the ruling BJP government in the state for openly targeting Goa’s patron saint St Francis Xavier based on his own personal assumptions/ beliefs and for daringly hurting the religious sentiments of all the Goan Catholics?

Devotees from all around the world still come here in large numbers to seek the blessings of St Francis Xavier during his feast at Old Goa. St Francis Xavier therefore has, is and will always remain the ‘Patron Saint’ of Goans regardless of our caste, creed and religion. Yes, he will always be revered as “Goencho Saib” forever by Goans, and for a reason, no matter what Velingkar keeps saying about him.

Trinamool Congress hired IPAC as a consultant to boost its political fortunes in Goa. TMC thought that just three months before the elections, it will make a place in the hearts of Goan people. It started ‘poaching’ leaders from other parties. Many who joined TMC to get tickets are now blaming it after the elections for not doing enough. They very well knew the ground reality but greed for tickets triumphed. A big media house actually laid the red carpet for the TMC and made…
