Rapid tests for Covid cannot be relied upon

While many Goans are heaving a sigh of relief at the low number of Covid cases, a question that comes to mind is: Could this be a true reflection of the situation? While cases are still being reported each day, the total number of tests carried is not being revealed or is kept hidden. An authentic indicator of the ground reality in Goa and elsewhere could only be gauged by the percentage of positive cases versus the total number of tests conducted. It has been made clear by now that the rapid tests cannot be relied upon. Can we trust the media to carry out its sacrosanct duty of giving a true picture to the people? While other states are taking measures to strictly control the entry of persons from Covid hotspot states, Goa with its lax SOPs seems to be heading for a second wave.

Hope procurement of vaccine is not politicised
