Save our people from rising cases of stray dog attacks

The news report ' Packs of stray dogs on prowl, spread panic in Ganeshpuri '(TGE July 3) will hopefully open the eyes of the concerned authorities on how dangerous the situation in Goa is today in cities and villages, due to the increase in the number of strays and their attacks on the people. The problem has been highlighted in the newspapers several times but has evoked little response from the Goa govt. Feeding stray dogs out of concern, doesn't make people good Samaritans, by any reckoning. What is needed is to adopt these strays and keep them well fed and protected. Surprisingly, little is done by our elected representatives to solve these vexing  problem of the locals  and protect them  from attacks of strays. Much was also expected from NGOs and the Animal Welfare Board to house  and feed the strays and keep them happy,  and away from the cities and villages. Unfortunately we seem to have missed the woods for the trees .
