Achinta Sheuli 21, who broke several Commonwealth Games records on the way to clinching gold in weightlifting in the 73 kg category realized the fond wish of his late father who was a rickshaw puller who could barely make ends meet. After practise sessions at the local gym during the day Achinta helped his mother with stitching and embroidery work till late in the night which kept the home fires burning for his impoverished family. In 2013 when his father passed away, his elder brother who was no mean weightlifter himself left the sport to support the family as also to nurse the aspirations of his younger brother who was showing great promise. Achinta acknowledged the sacrifices made by his mother and brother, as also the efforts of his coach and support of the army, post his podium finish. The boy's stellar achievement in the face of crippling adversity holds lessons for all those who are struggling in different fields of endeavor. Tough times don't last, tough men do, and they go on to win laurels for the country. All hail Emperor Achinta.
