It is most unfortunate that several people in the state are struggling to get regular supply of drinking water from the taps. Many people depend on water supplied by water tankers for which they have to pay. It is indeed an irony that while people are suffering due to irregular supply of water, in Benaulim thousands of litres of water are getting wasted since December 2021 due to leakage in the pipeline. It is learnt that despite the local people demanding the repair of the pipeline, the concerned authorities have reportedly turned a blind eye. The leakage of water from this pipeline needs to be repaired on a war footing. Besides leakage, bursting of pipelines has been taking place at a disturbing frequency across the state. A couple of days back a pipeline burst near the garbage dump at Sada in Vasco. The pipeline was damaged by a JCB which was used to remove the garbage. Many buildings in the locality did not get water supply for several days and in other buildings water mixed with filthy water from the garbage dump flowed through the taps.
