The question raised in the editorial, ‘Is it a moral win or tactical retreat in NEET?’ (TGE, July 25), defies reason and can hardly be answered conclusively. We can only expect it to be debated in political circles in the days to come. Credit, however, should be given to Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh for accomplishing the onerous task of convincing activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his fast on an agreeable note. The Delhi High Court should also be complimented for ordering Wangchuk's transfer to hospital and saving his life after his condition had seriously deteriorated. Life is more precious, according to the judge, and rightfully so.
It remains to be seen whether the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the withdrawal of the agitation will address the concerns raised by students or merely bring a temporary pause to the movement.
