Taking precautions important as COVID-19 rears its head again

COVID-19 cases are rising again and there’s a new highly mutated variant cropping up in states. COVID-19 does not seem to be giving us a break as new variants keep popping up now and then. This may be a contributing factor in the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in India. 

Kerala has witnessed an increase in COVID-19 cases, where JN.1 sub-variant of the virus was discovered during routine surveillance. Variants are a common occurrence in viruses. They constantly change through mutation, and new variants of a virus are expected to occur over time. Reported symptoms of JN.1 include fever, runny nose, sore throat, headache, and mild gastrointestinal symptoms. 

Preventive measures are important, as vulnerable populations may always be at risk. To prevent the spread of infection, people need to follow all contact precautions like frequent handwashing, wearing of mask, and maintaining social distance.

St Inez area deeply affected by road digging

I visited the area at St Inez cemetery recently. The situation is so pathetic that even the pavement at the cemetery adjacent to the wall is in deplorable condition. The PWD work is in full swing, but it doesn’t appear that this main road will be fully repaired and motorable this year, at least. There are a number of workers who have been asked by CCP and PWD to expedite the repairs, which, at a few places, involve deep excavation. I don’t think this will be completed even…
