This is with reference to the report, "Fatorda police crack whip on migrants -- The Goan Everyday December 21, 2022." It is good to see the police taking action against migrants camping in open spaces in Goa. These migrants resort to begging and perhaps other activities and are responsible for turning cities & towns into a complete mess. According to the report, some of them were being rehabilitated while others were driven away from the old market area in Fatorda where they had settled down. It is common knowledge that when they are driven away from one location, they go to another location. The point is, how far are we going to resort to such temporary measures? The authorities need to go to the root of the matter. Apparently, people flock to the nearest towns or cities because of lack of enjoyment & business opportunities in their villages. The governments in all States need to reverse this trend if we wish to stop turning our cities into slum cities.
